  • With technological advancements, it is now feasible to warn people in advance of impending disasters such as floods and cyclones.
  • The whole district administrative structure is dedicated to disaster management.

(2) Functions of the District Collector

Answer :

  • The District Collector is the senior officer and leader of the district administration.
  • He collects land tax, enforces agricultural regulations, and organises famine relief efforts such as animal feed.
  • He upholds law and order in the district and works to promote social peace.
  • He is also the District Election Officer and carries out duties related to agriculture.
  • He makes on-the-spot decision concerning disaster management and monitors the rehabilitation of impacted persons.
