Answer the following questions in brief.
1. What do you understand by ‘fundamental rights’ ?
Certain rights are known as the ‘Fundamental Rights’ as these rights are given by the Constitution. The government cannot make any law that violates these rights. It is imperative for everybody to abide by these rights.
2. Name the awards that are conferred by the Government upon people for their distinguished contribution in different fields.
The government confers civil honours such as Padmashree, Padmabhushan, Padma Vibhushan and Bharat Ratna for the distinguished service in the different fields.
3. Why is it prohibited to employ children under 14 years of age in hazardous places?
(1) The constitution of India has conferred the Right against exploitation. (2) Child labour is a form of exploitation. (3) In order to save children from this exploitation, the constitution has prohibited the employment of children below the age of 14 years in hazardous places of employment. (4) Children cannot be employed or made to work in factories and mines.
4. Why has the Constitution given equal rights to all Indian citizens ?
For these reasons, the Constitution has given equal rights to all citizens of India.
