Answer :

Most rivers flow from mountains, which are made up of various rocks.
The larger rocks are slowly and progressively struck as the water rushes with power through these mountains.
The frequent shift in temperature, along with the winds, rains, and swiftly running water, causes fissures to form on the rock surface, causing it to shatter into smaller pieces (weathering of rocks).
The running river transports these soil particles to low-lying places, where they settle as sand.
