OPEC APEC

It keeps control over international trade in crude oil. It promotes free trade and economic cooperation among the member countries.
It keeps control on the production by the member countries and the rates of crude oil. It encourages regional and technological cooperation among the member countries.
It coordinates the activity and maintains consensus in export of crude oil. It coordinates technical and economic cooperation among the member-states

Answer :

Association of South-East Asian Nations (ASEAN) is an important trade organisation in Asia. Its functions are as follows :

  • To expand social and cultural harmony along with economic growth in South-East Asia.
  • To promote regional peace.
  • To promote tax waivers for trade growth in member states.

(F) What is the importance of marketing from farmers ‘point of view’?

Answer :

  • • Traditionally, farmers sold their produce on the local market at whatever price was available. Farmers used to lose money since fruits and vegetables are perishable items.
  • Progressive farmers, on the other hand, have learned marketing abilities. They are aware of market trends. They manufacture foodgrains and fruits in accordance with worldwide standards, and they are now grading and packaging their products.
  • The presentation of any product has now become essential.
  • They highlight the quality of their items and maintain them for sale in the mall, along with samples.
  • They use the internet to contact supermarkets and exporters.
  • As a result, their products are more expensive in shopping centres. They also make a significant profit from exporting.
  • Thus marketing is as important as cultivation of crops. By following modern marketing techniques, the income of the farmers will increase and that will improve their standard of living.

In the following table, export-import of some countries in the year 2014-15 is given in million U.S. dollars. Make a compound bar graph of the given statistical information.

Read the bar diagram carefully and comment upon the balance of payments of the respective countries.

  • China has favourable balance of trade.
