In order to promote-encourage agriculture, the following steps are taken by the government :

  • Cooperative banks are used to provide loans.
  • Cooperative industries that process fruits and vegetables are encouraged. (Example: industries run by sugar cooperatives)
  • There are organised study tours, agricultural outdoor visits (trips), and farmer conferences where advice on how to enhance agriculture is given.
  • Better equipment, top-notch seeds, and (chemical) fertilisers are provided. Training at the district level is offered in dairy farming, pisciculture, poultry, cattle and goat rearing, and nurseries.
  • Laboratories that examine soils provide advice on crops.
  • Financial assistance is granted to construct grain-storage buildings (given as farm products).

(2) How is employment generated in the tourism sector ?

  • Indians and visitors from other countries travel frequently.
  • The hotel sector employs people because tourists need places to stay and eat.
  • Foodgrains, vegetables, fruits, milk, and a variety of other products are needed by the hotels. People in nearby rural areas might take advantage of the employment opportunities this offers.

  • They need transportation to get where they're going.
  • They buy trinkets and crafts made by locals.

(4) Write a short note on leather industry in India.

  • India has had a leather industry for a very long time.
  • Skin from dead animals is removed to obtain the raw material for leather, which is then processed.
  • Leather was used in the ancient and mediaeval eras to create "Masak" (a water container), musical instruments like the drum and dholak, and the bellow the blacksmith used. Shoes and shields were also made from it.
  • Today, leather is used to make travel accessories, shoes, chappals, handbags, and belts.
